Speed Werewolf Games on werewolv.es

Speed games compress Werewolf's day and night phases into minutes. They are fun games in their own right, but long-form games remain the heart of werewolv.es and the main reason the site exists. Those games unfold over days, giving arguments, lies, and alliances time to develop.

There are still options for getting an adhoc community speed game going perhaps on the werewolv.es Discord, or even a private speed game with friends. However, these games can be difficult to get going, as there is no set time or agenda for them and honestly, a small player base as of right now.

Become a werewolv.es speed game Moderator

During the pandemic we ran a series of speed game afternoons, some of which were cast on Twitch with commentary on the game as it progressed. These were fun but did still require a fair amount of time to organise and set up.

It seems a shame to waste this potential, but as the moderator of the site, I do not have the capacity to organise regular, or even semi-regular speed game sessions. As such I am looking for an organiser, or a small team, to propose and run the next programme of community speed games. You do not need to be part of the current community, but an application from outside should include relevant evidence that shows how you work with people.

I leave the schedule, format, setups, whether its cast or not entirely up to you. It can be text based, voice/webcam based, whatever. If it provides fun for people within the sites broad rules, it has my blessing.

What support is available

Hosting permissions, game resources, promotion, mailing support, and broadcast access will be granted in stages as trust and practical need are established.

Shape future speed-game support

If the events become popular, I am willing to help develop ideas to improve the offering. This could include game mechanics if you want a hand in helping to design some

What I'm looking for in a host

  • Rough setup ideas, with an understanding of balance and fun.
  • A realistic plan for recruiting enough players.
  • Evidence of sound judgement when organising, hosting, moderating, or broadcasting.
  • Reliability and a desire to keep the atmosphere pleasant.

This is responsibility, not rank. If the tiny amount of power involved is the attractive part, this is probably not for you.

Site-wide moderation, member data, development decisions, and serious conduct decisions are outside the organiser's direct authority. Access may be withdrawn if reliability, trust, or the pleasant atmosphere breaks down.

Apply to organise speed games

Email [email protected]. There is no fixed closing date and this is not first come, first served. Tell me about:

  • Your proposed format and schedule.
  • Rough setup ideas and the balance reasoning behind them.
  • Relevant evidence from organising, hosting, moderation, or broadcasting.
  • The support or access you expect to need.

Apply by email

Once the organiser role is filled, this section will become the place for current organiser and event information. The format explanation, reminders, history, and route for suggesting future improvements will remain here.

Get speed-game event reminders

If you would rather play than organise, join the reminder list. We will use it for substantial speed-game events when there is a real date to announce, not to pretend that a regular schedule currently exists.

A speed-game event from the archive

During the pandemic we ran a cast afternoon of speed games. The video is useful proof of what a scheduled event can feel like, and a bit of inspiration. It also took a considerable amount of production work. A new organiser does not need to copy it, and casting is not the default expectation.
